Eyes Closed
Have you ever thought as to why we close our eyes when in prayer? This experience came only to me not so long ago while in my church.
The Bible does not instruct us to pray with our eyes closed. The only thing Jesus told us about praying can be found in Matthew 6 v 5-6 "whenever you pray do not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that people can see them"
For me especially I sort of did a little experiment because I didn't really "know and feel the difference" between open and closed eyes until this morning. I realize each experience is different from other peoples experiences because we are all individuals created by God aren't we?
When my eyes were open I could hear clearly what was being said, but I felt should I say "empty", but then I closed my eyes and I felt "secure (full). It is really difficult to explain but it is true.
Psalm 122 v 7 says - Peace be within your walls and security within your tower. (biblehub.com)
Psalm 16 v 8 says - I have set the Lord always before me because He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. ((ESV)
2 Samuel 22v17 says - He reached down from on high and took hold of me, He drew me out of deep waters. (NIV)
These scripture verses are for example only as it is hard to describe, but you may know what I am saying.
Remember
Pray without ceasing
